How to Fund-Raise

Fundraising can be fun and rewarding! To fund-raise, set yourself a personal challenge or commitment and get people to sponsor you. If you complete the challenge or commitment then they will make the donation to your fundraising page.

The best way to fund-raise is to create a plan. We have set out some simple steps below to help you with your fundraising journey.

1. Think of a challenge (or two!)

Start by thinking of a challenge or activity you can do to raise funds! When it comes to fundraising, you are only limited by your imagination!  Here are some ideas to help you have fun while you are fundraising:

  • Commit to doing some training in preparation for the TRYathlon i.e 3 runs a week or 2 bike rides.
  • Have a Weet-Bix Slice bake sale with our tasty recipes.
  • Do some chores around the house (tidying your room, doing the dishes, reading every night).
  • Give something up for a day – such as gaming or talking (just make sure you let everyone know!

2. Set yourself a goal

Determine how much money you want to raise. This will allow you to track your progress and will be extra rewarding when you surpass your goal. If you share your goal with your friends and family, they will be able to see how their donation is helping your cause too.

3. Create your Fundraising TRY IT ON Page

Officially become a fundraiser by creating a fundraising page. On your page you can write about your personal commitments and challenges that you have set yourself. This is where your friends and family will be able to make their donations to you. This is a secure and safe way of donating to the Weet-Bix TRYathlon Foundation.

4. Share your story

Now it’s time to share your story and page! Tell your friends and family that you are participating in the Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon and that you are fundraising to help another less fortunate Kiwi kid TRY IT ON too.

Some great ways to ask for donations include:

  • face-to-face
  • via an email
  • ask your parents to share it via their social media – Facebook and Instagram

Another top tip is to also ask your donors to tell their friends and family and get them to share your fundraising page link too!

5. Complete your challenges and watch the donations roll in!

Now you’ve set your goals and shared your challenges, you’ve got to do what you set out to do. You will be able to track your progress on your fundraising page by logging back in. You can also see all of our TRYathlete’s collective efforts here.

Good luck with your personal challenges and thank you for helping other Kiwi kids TRY IT ON!
