FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Where does the money go?

All money fundraised goes directly to the Weet-Bix TRYathlon Foundation where it is used to subsidise entries of Kiwi kids who otherwise would not be able to participate in the TRYathlon, as well as purchasing or hiring bikes, helmets and other equipment that would otherwise prevent kids from being able to take part.

Do I have to reach my fundraising goal? What if I’m not successful?

Just like participating in the Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon, it is great to set yourself a goal and experience a sense of achievement at reaching it, but your fundraising goal is obligation-free. It’s all about having a go and giving it a TRY. You may be surprised at how easy it is once you get started.

Will I receive information on the kids I have helped participate in the Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon?

Yes, we will let you know how many kids across New Zealand that we have been able to help this series and what the money was used for (number of subsidised entries, bikes, helmets and other equipment). Stories from the Foundation will be published online and through our social media channels from time to time.

Does all money donated go towards the Weet-Bix TRYathlon Foundation?

100% of the funds raised go directly to the Weet-Bix TRYathlon Foundation.

Are donations tax deductible?

Yes. All donations of $5 or more are tax deductible

Can I accept cash donations?

Our recommendation is to only receive donations via your personal fundraising page on the TRY IT ON website. If any cash donations wish to be accepted by children raising funds, and parents agree for the child to accept a cash donation, parents may assist to make a donation of the equivalent cash amount with their credit card on behalf of the donor.

What do TRY IT On Fundraisers get?

All fundraisers will go into the draw to win a year’s supply of Weet-Bix!  This will be drawn at the prizegiving of the Wellington Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon event.  Fundraisers are also able to get a iron-on print to put on their TRYathlon t-shirt. This will be available at the merchandise tent on the day at the Wellington TRYathlon.

Who can participate?

The TRY IT ON Fundraising Platform is a pilot programme that is currently only open to Weet-Bix TRYathlon participants from the morning and afternoon Wellington events in Kilbirnie.  Anyone from these events can join the programme, and are automatically set up with a fundraising profile when they register making it easier to set up an online Fundraising page for each child.
